The GOLDEN GLOBE

Our project is centered on art throughout the Golden Ages. This includes Greek, Roman, Islamic, and lastly the Medieval Renaissance golden ages. Our intention is to find correlations between these times by means of technology, culture, and social advancements.  Art is a very pivotal component to a society, by researching communities present within in each of these societies, we can make a general assumption as to why these “golden ages” actually occurred.

Paintings such as The Birth of Venus brought back classical ideas from the Roman and Greek Golden Ages. The Renaissance was a period of 'rebirth' that used more modern to the period techniques to retell older stories with themes that seemed relatable to the time period. Also included in this idea was that "dukes commissioned portraits of themselves - sometimes unflattering ones - just as Roman leaders had once commissioned their own busts" (The Making of the West 427).
